If you’re looking for a bit of financial assistance to support you through your studies at UWA, you might want to consider applying for one of our scholarships, which encourage you to pursue excellence during your time in Perth.
To help you get started, we’ve put together a guide to the range of scholarships available at UWA as well as some tips for applying.
UWA-funded scholarships available to international students
We offer a range of scholarships to international students from across the globe. Find out more about UWA-funded scholarships below.
Global Excellence Scholarship
If you’re a high-achieving undergraduate or postgraduate student from an eligible country and you’re applying to a particular degree, you could be awarded our Global Excellence Scholarship. The scholarship offers an annual tuition fee discount of up to AUD$45,000 over three years for undergraduate studies and up to AUD$30,000 over two years for postgraduate studies.
Eligible students will be automatically offered the scholarship in their offer letter from UWA and you do not need to submit a separate application for this scholarship.
Global Sporting Excellence Scholarship
Got an aptitude for sports? Granted you’re from an eligible country and commencing an eligible course, you could secure a Global Sporting Excellence Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded to high-performing athletes, coaches and officials who study with us, offering up to AUD$45,000 over three years for undergraduate studies or AUD$30,000 over two years for postgraduate studies.
Destination Australia Scholarships
A total of 16 scholarships valued at $15,000 per student per year will be made available from 2021 to students who wish to study at the UWA Albany campus. The generous allocation of funds per annum of the degree provides the possibility for students to either pay for their courses up front or pay rent and living expenses – or maybe a combination of both. Find out more about these scholarships.
Postgraduate – Research
Interested in undertaking a postgraduate research course? You may be able to access two major scholarship schemes through UWA, including the International Research Training Program (RTP) Scholarships. Find out more about these scholarships.
English Language Course Scholarship for International PhD Students
You may have been offered a PhD position at UWA, but don’t quite meet the UWA English entry requirement. If that’s the case, you can access the UWA English Language Bridging Scholarship, a free 10-week pre-course English language program. Find out more by emailing marketing-celt@uwa.edu.au.
International Loyalty Program
Thinking about keeping it in the family? We offer reduced fees to third and subsequent siblings who have previously studied, or are studying at, UWA. Check out our International Loyalty Program flyer for more information.
Top tips for applying for a UWA-funded scholarship
While many UWA-funded scholarships are automatically applied, some require an application. Here are our top tips for applying for a UWA-funded scholarship.
1. Apply early
Applying early means you can take your time with your application and ensure it’s the very best it can be, rather than rushing it at the last minute. And while it might seem obvious, make sure you’re aware of the deadlines for each scholarship so you don’t miss out.
2. Put together a stellar application
The better your application, the higher your chance of securing a scholarship. Carefully read through the selection criteria and tailor your application to meet these, and check the list of required documents to make sure you have each one on hand.
3. Proofread your application
Read over your application once it’s been compiled – and read over it again! Make sure all the required information and documents are in place, and that you’ve checked spelling, grammatical and punctuation. Good luck!
At UWA you can design your own degree. Learn about our range of courses and career options at an upcoming information session being held throughout July and August 2021. Explore our sessions and register today!
