Periodontics
Program objectives:
The DClinDent (Periodontics) program is designed to lead to a specialist registration in the field of periodontics. This program comprises a well-balanced mix of didactic coursework, clinical work and a research project covering all aspects of modern periodontal and oral implantology practice. This includes the relevant biomedical sciences (such as microbiology, clinical immunology, oral medicine and oral pathology as they pertain to periodontics and implant dentistry) and multidisciplinary treatment planning with all dental specialist disciplines.
Oral Medicine
Program objectives:
Oral medicine is defined as the branch of dentistry concerned with the diagnosis, prevention and predominantly non-surgical management of medically related disorders and conditions affecting the oral and maxillofacial region, in particular oral mucosal disease and orofacial pain as well as the oral health care of medically complex patients.
Dento-maxillofacial Radiology
Next intake to be advised (currently unavailable)
Program objectives:
As defined by the Dental Board of Australia, Dento-Maxillofacial Radiology is the branch of dentistry that deals with diagnostic imaging procedures applicable to the hard and soft tissues of the oral and maxillofacial region, and to other structures that are relevant for the proper assessment of oral conditions. It involves the skills and knowledge of how to select the correct imaging modality for each type of pathology and the skills and knowledge to interpret the acquired images accurately. A Dento-Maxillofacial Radiologist plays a key role in the diagnostic process as well as in the follow up of certain treatments as an adequate differential diagnosis can be provided to any other discipline in dentistry. The latter benefits both the dental care provider and the patient.
Course accreditation
The Doctor of Clinical Dentistry is accredited by the Australian Dental Council (ADC). Graduates are eligible for registration to practice as a specialist dentist in their chosen specialty in Australia and New Zealand.

Endodontics
Program objectives:
The DClinDent (Endodontics) program aims to teach and develop the necessary skills to enable students to provide ethical, high-quality, patient-centred and evidence-based specialist endodontic treatment to patients. It aims to develop graduates who have a broad scientific foundation of knowledge to become critical thinkers and to embrace the developing and ever-changing science of the discipline with enthusiasm and caution while also developing their technical skills to a high level.
Orthodontics
Program objectives:
The DClinDent (Orthodontics) program provides didactic and clinical tuition in orthodontics and related subjects. This is largely achieved through an understanding and a firm command of the contemporary orthodontic literature. Students are trained in research methodology and are required to design and conduct a research project. The course allows for consolidation of knowledge of the basic sciences and expansion of clinical experience gained previously as well as during the program.
The program aims to provide carefully selected dentists with the necessary skills to provide ethical, patient-centred, evidence-based orthodontic treatment.
Paediatrics
Program objectives:
The major aim of the program is to train candidates to be clinically competent paediatric dentists. The DClinDent (Paediatric Dentistry) program facilitates development of the candidate’s diagnostic and technical skills while encouraging innovation and critical thinking to provide high-quality, patient-centred treatment to children from birth through the teenage years.
