Career Pathways
Many audiologists are involved in research, helping to develop new behavioural and electrophysiological test techniques, cochlear implants, hearing aids and hearing health therapies. Some audiologists work in community and workplace settings including programs aimed at reducing the prevalence and impact of middle ear disease in rural and remote aboriginal communities, newborn hearing screening programs and hearing conservation programs in industry.

Postgraduate - full fee paying students
The Annual Fee is an estimate only based on a standard annual study load of 48 points. (Courses may teach up to 72 points in a year)

- Ensure you have met the English Language Competence requirement for this course. Please be aware there are higher requirements for international students for this course
- Ensure you submit your CV with your application
- Applications must be submitted by 31 October of the year prior to admission
Admission Requirements
(a) a bachelor's degree, or equivalent qualification as recognised by UWA:
and
(b) the equivalent of a UWA weighted average mark of at least 65 percent, taken from the most recent degree of at least one year full-time duration.
(2) Students must obtain a current National Police Certificate, National Criminal History Check or equivalent certification from country of residence, indicating no criminal conviction. The currency of a National Police Certificate or a National Criminal History Check is 12 months.
Ranking information
- Applicants will be ranked for admission based on their weighted average mark and interview (determined by academic performance (WAM) or cognate study and relevant professional experience
- For applicants with multiple tertiary qualifications, the WAM from the most recent completed qualification of at least one year duration will be used
- For applicants currently studying their first bachelor’s degree, the WAM from all bachelor studies completed up to the end of October will be used
Ranking and Selection Process
(a) the admission requirements under Rule 4; and
(b) an interview in which eligible applicants will be assessed based on the personal qualities considered desirable in audiologists, with an invitation to sit the interview determined by academic performance (WAM) or cognate study and relevant professional experience, in alignment with the interview quota for that year; and
(c) the intake quota for that year.
English competency
English is the language of instruction and assessment at UWA and you will need to meet the English language requirements of the University to be eligible for a place.
Graduate applicants require at least two successful years of full-time or equivalent degree studies undertaken in Australia, Canada (excluding Quebec), Ireland, New Zealand, the United Kingdom or the United States of America. Applicants presenting with the IELTS Academic require an overall score of at least 7.0 and no band less than 7.0. For more information visit ELC requirements.

Course structure
Postgraduate coursework degrees and combined (coursework and research) degrees comprise a number of units. Refer to the course structure for more information.
Why study Clinical Audiology?
- You’ll develop your understanding of the professional practice in Clinical Audiology including recent developments, as well as knowledge of research principles and methods applicable to Clinical Audiology.
- Gain the cognitive skills to demonstrate mastery of theoretical knowledge and to reflect critically on theory and professional practice or scholarship, as well as the cognitive, technical and creative skills to investigate, analyse and synthesise complex information, problems, concepts and theories and to apply established theories to your clinical practice.
- You’ll be equipped to generate and evaluate complex ideas and concepts at an abstract level.
Course Accreditation
The Master of Clinical Audiology is accredited by Audiology Australia. After completing their studies graduates are eligible to be an Audiology Australia member and undertake a one-year clinical internship. Once the Audiology Australia clinical internship has been successfully completed they become an Accredited Audiologist.
