Pathway details
An Architecture degree sets you on the path to conceptualise and design buildings, urban configurations and landscapes in response to economic, technical and social needs and desires. At UWA you’ll benefit from intensive teaching with a low student-to-staff ratio in design studios. You'll also graduate with the skills to build 6-star+ rated housing, a growing need in today's environmentally minded society. Practical studies are supported by investigating design communication, sustainable design and historical, theoretical and ethical aspects. Students can also exhibit their work at the Cullity Gallery.
Graduate architect
Choose a Bachelor of Environmental Design with the Architecture extended major to begin your professional pathway. You'll then complete a two-year Master of Architecture (MArch) which comprises an intensive program in design, technology, theory and professional practice.

Course accreditation
The Master of Architecture has replaced the Bachelor of Architecture as the professional degree accredited in Australia (by the Australian Institute of Architects and the Architects Registration Board of WA) and validated internationally by the Commonwealth Association of Architects. This qualification is therefore widely recognised overseas.
Following completion of the Master of Architecture, graduates must undertake two years of professional practice under the direction of a registered architect and then pass the Architectural Practice Examination (APE) before being eligible to register as an architect in Australia.
